Blogosphere Barks: Recommendations on YA Titles for Adults

14 05 2008

There was a great post over at Sci/Fi Signal pulling from several blogs, various recommendations for YA SFF books, that appeal to adults too.  I figured I share in case some of you are like me and still shop the YA section even as adults.  It can be hard sometimes finding a YA appropriate title with universal appeal.  To often authors dumb down their books for teens and a series won’t grow with it’s readers.

I agree with many of these picks, and I’d also recommend Eion Coilfer’s Airman to the list.  It is a short read for a much younger YA, but I love his characters.

Personally, Sci-fi is the reason why I really started to like books in the first place.  So cheers to YA Sci-Fi.  The Star Wars:  Young Jedi Nights series was the first series of books I ever bought with my own money.  From there I moved to classic Sci-Fi like Fahrenheit 451 & Ringworld and the rest of the Star Wars expanded universe canon.
